Abeja Winery wine tasting in Walla Walla

Plan an Abeja Winery wine tasting in Walla Walla—prices, reservations, and a realistic day around nearby wineries.

Home · Walla Walla wineries · Abeja Winery

Abeja is one of Walla Walla's more immersive estate visits. The winery occupies a restored century-old farmstead in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, surrounded by vineyards, creeks, gardens and open views. The setting feels more like a small wine-country retreat than a conventional tasting room, and the estate also includes The Inn at Abeja and The Kitchen at Abeja. Because visits to the Mill Creek estate are by reservation, the atmosphere is generally quieter and more deliberate than a busy walk-in tasting room.

The Traditional Abeja Tasting is the simpler option. Guests are seated in the historic Big Barn and taste current-release wines from the Beekeeper and Columbia Valley collections while receiving an introduction to Abeja and its winemaking. When weather permits, tastings may move outdoors to a patio with views toward the Blue Mountains. This is a good choice for visitors who primarily want to taste the wines while still experiencing the character of the property.

The Abeja Estate Experience is the better choice for a first visit if time allows. It begins with a hosted walk through the winery and historic farmstead, including the Mill Creek Estate vineyards, gardens and other parts of the property, followed by a private seated tasting of limited-release wines paired with seasonal small bites from The Kitchen at Abeja. The combination of estate scenery, wine education and food makes this one of the more complete hospitality experiences on Walla Walla's east side. Visitors interested in extending the experience can also consider dinner at The Kitchen at Abeja or an overnight stay at The Inn.

Planning a day around Abeja Winery

Make Abeja a fixed reservation on an east-side Walla Walla day rather than trying to fit it between downtown walk-in stops. Pair it with nearby Walla Walla Vintners, àMaurice, Echolands or Tranche to minimize driving. If you choose the Estate Experience, leave roughly two hours between reservation start times so you can enjoy the walk, tasting and grounds without rushing. The Kitchen at Abeja serves dinner by reservation Thursday–Sunday, so an especially easy plan is to taste on the east side during the afternoon and return to Abeja for dinner. Visitors wanting a more casual Abeja experience can instead visit Beekeeper by Abeja downtown, but that is a separate tasting location from this Mill Creek estate.
