The property sits above St. Helena among vineyards and forest, with an estate lake and fountain visible from the patio. The tasting room has a warm, residential feel—more living room than commercial wine bar—and in cooler weather guests may taste near the fireplace, while warmer days naturally pull the experience outside onto the patios and deck.
The wines are centered on estate-grown Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Franc from the mountain property. Current releases also include Sauvignon Blanc and an Atlas Peak Chardonnay, but Cabernet is the reason most wine-focused travelers seek out the winery. The tasting is deliberately personal and conversational rather than built around a large menu of public experience tiers, and the winery currently publishes one standard onsite tasting at $95 per person. The tasting fee may be waived with a qualifying wine purchase.
The setting encourages visitors to slow down. Sherwin specifically promotes enjoying a picnic on the deck, taking in the vineyard and lake views, and even trying the small Par One golf hole near the Patriotic Pond. The winery was rebuilt after the 2020 Glass Fire, so the current tasting room combines a newer facility with the same family-run hospitality and mountain setting.
